'ICE2EV' Grant

You could be eligible for up to €8,500 in Government support when switching to a new electric vehicle. 

Under the new ICE2EV Scrappage Scheme, owners of qualifying petrol and diesel vehicles registered in 2013 or earlier can receive an additional €5,000 scrappage grant towards a new electric vehicle. Combined with the existing SEAI EV Grant, total Government support can reach €8,500.

To qualify for the ICE2EV Scrappage Scheme, applicants must meet all of the following conditions:

•  The vehicle being scrapped must be a petrol or diesel passenger car first registered in 2013 or earlier. 
• The vehicle must have been registered in the applicant's name for at least 12 months. 
• The vehicle must be taxed and insured for road use.
•  The vehicle must have a valid NCT certificate, or an NCT that expired no more than six months before the application date.
•  The vehicle registration certificate must be provided.
•  The scrappage payment applies only when purchasing a new battery electric vehicle (BEV).
•  The new vehicle must qualify for the SEAI EV Grant.
•  The scheme is subject to available funding and operates on a first-come, first-served basis

 Important Information 

The ICE2EV Scrappage Scheme provides an additional €5,000 grant towards the purchase of a new battery electric vehicle. This is in addition to the existing SEAI EV Grant of up to €3,500, bringing total Government support of up to €8,500 for eligible applicants. Terms and conditions apply.
